Wanna know the song A R Rahman played for former CM Jaya when she visited his studio?

Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa once visited Oscar winner A R Rahman at his studio and requested him to play a song for her from his latest compostions.

This information was disclosed by none other than seven-time National Award winning lyricist Vairamuthu.

The renowned lyricist, while participating in the recently held audio launch event of Mani Ratnam’s eagerly awaited film, Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, made this interesting disclosure.

It is a well known fact that the famous trio of director Mani Ratnam, Lyricist Vairamuthu and music director A R Rahman have produced a hit every time they have come together.

The trio, who complete 25 years with Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, were invited to take the stage together and were asked to pick their favourite number from among all the songs they had made together over the last quarter century.

Lyricist Vairamuthu named ‘Uyire’ from Bombay as his favourite while Mani Ratnam named ‘Tamizha Tamizha’ from Roja.

Rahman picked ‘Kannalane’ from the Arvind Swamy- Manisha Koirala starrer Bombay. This is when
Vairamuthu interrupted and said that this number was also special because of another reason.

The lyricist said that former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa had once visited Rahman at his studio in person.

“She asked Rahman to play one of his latest numbers for her at his studio and listened to a number played by A R Rahman. The number that Rahman played for her then was Kannalane!,” the lyricist announced much to the delight of everyone present there.
