When actor Bharath turned emotional!
One of Tamil cinema’s talented actors, Bharath, turned emotional during the success meet of his recent hit film, Kalidas.
The investigative thriller, that features Bharath and Ann Sheetal in the lead, has been receiving rave reviews and doing well in theatres all across the state.
The team of Kalidas, to celebrate the success of the film, called a thanksgiving meet to the media and the fans.
Participating in the event, Bharath, who has had a difficult journey in the film industry, turned emotional as news of his film’s success got confirmed.
Speaking at the event, Bharath said,”I was shooting in Mumbai yesterday. They called me and said that a success meet was being held for Kalidas. That was really nice to hear. In 2020, I will be entering into my 18th year in the film industry. It has been a beautiful, tough journey these 17 years.
Pausing to catch his breath and fighting back tears, Bharat, who is tasting success after a really long time, continued to speak.
“I have always tried to give good movies but there have been a few mistakes in my career. Those mistakes happen in the lives of all heroes. We would keep making movies. Suddenly, a couple of films won’t work and people will declare that you don’t have a market. That is bound to happen because this is an industry that involves money. All heroes must face such criticism. However, amidst all this, the media has always been very supportive of me.
“There was a time when things didn’t go my way but I kept believing in myself. I kept thinking that someday, something good would happen. All my recent films were praised by the media. For instance, Kadugu was a good film. However, I did not get the financial platform that is necessary. Current success involves all elements. This film is one that has given me all thos elements of success,” he said.
“When this story was narrated in 2017, I realised it was a good story and started work on it with enthusiasm. We finished the film and then after that, there was a big struggle that lasted for around 8 months. During those months, only those four walls, inside which we edited the film, know the trauma that the director and I experienced wondering how we were going to get this good film to the audiences.
“Almost everybody in the industry had watched it before its release. They would say, ‘This is a good film but how will we be able to generate this kind of business with him (Bharat)? Will people come and watch?’ The director put that very diplomatically to you because he did not want to feel me hurt. But I know because what they said would reach my ears. However, I would take such comments in my stride.
“I know nothing but cinema. I came to the film industry when I was 16. I did not know what to do. There wasn’t a person I hadn’t called to take a look at the film. They would promise to call back and then never respond. Almost eight months passed in this traumatic fashion. But then, once the film released, I can’t believe the connect it has established with the media and audiences. Everybody who has watched it has termed it as nothing but super.
“After the press show last Friday, I saw the power of your pens. After you appreciated the film, everybody has been watching it and praising it. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to the media by coming to the centre of the stage and bowing to you all. I thank the media with all my heart. Next, I need to thank my team. We need to thank distributor Abhishek sir. He was the man who came to our rescue. He believed in this film. We love him.
“One other person, who has been working very hard to make this film succeed is distributor Sakthivel. I have known distributor Sakthivel only for 10 days but the bond I share with him is so strong and is similar to the bond that one would share with someone whom one has known for 10 years. We have crossed the first week but this film will also have to run in theatres for at least a couple of more weeks. Next week, there are three big releases. Our film will have to take them on as well and still succeed in theatres. Sakthivel has been working hard to ensure that. My PRO Yuvaraj and his team too have been working hard for this movie’s success.
Talking about the director, Bharath said, “Sri Senthil deserves this success. Sri Senthil’ s hard work and his approach were phenomenal. There were no insecurities when I did this film. I believe his name is already in the list of good directors in the industry.
“Finally, a big thank you to fans and audiences. They are the ones who have been supporting me. Every day, I get 50 to 60 messages on my phone congratulating me and appreciating me for Kaalidas. I hope all the audiences will continue to support my film and make it run another couple of weeks by watching it in theatres.”
