Anybody has the right to criticise anybody’s film, says Vijay
Vijay has urged people not to express wrong or bad opinions about women on social media.
Actor Vijay on Wednesday issued an appeal, urging people not to express wrong or bad opinions about women on social media.
His appeal comes in the wake of an FIR being registered against two people, believed to be his fans, after they turned abusive and trolled a woman journalist for tweeting about a boring Hindi film.
The woman had, in her tweet, said something to the effect of the Hindi film being even more boring than Vijay’s Sura. Taking exception to her tweet, several fans trolled the woman for expressing her opinion on the issue.
In his statement, Vijay claimed that he was someone who respected women to a great extent. He clarified that anybody had the right to criticize anybody’s film and that everybody had the freedom of opinion to do that.
“It is my opinion that no matter what, one cannot, for any reason or at any time, criticise women in an insulting or degrading fashion. Everybody should praise womenhood,” the actor said, and added, “I request you not to express wrong opinions on women in social media with the intention of hurting anybody’s sentiments.”
