Well known Tamil actor and politician Vijaykanth has tested postive for Covid 19.
A statement from MIOT hospital, where he is undergoing treatment, said, “Mr Vijayakanth tested positive for Covid 19 on Sepetember 22, 2020. He is completely stable and admitted to MIOT hospitals, Chennai. He is expected to make a full recovery and should be ready for discharge soon.”
A statement released by Vijayakanth’s Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) however claimed that Vijaykanth had completely recovered from Covid 19.
The statement, in Tamil, read, “Captain Vijaykanth has the habit of undergoing a complete medical check up at the MIOT hospitals once in six months. When he underwent such medical tests recently, it was found that he had light traces of the Covid 19 virus. However, he has been cured completely.”
Vijaykanth, who has acted in a number of Tamil movies, took the title ‘Captain’ after his film Captain Prabhakaran emerged a blockbuster.
The man, who is deeply loved for his altruistic nature by those in the film industry, is credited with turning around the fortunes of the South Indian Artistes Association (SIAA) better known as the Nadigar Sangam during his term as its president.
