Cheran demands Vishal’s resignation as TFPC President

Cheran feels that Vishal contesting the election while being the President of the Tamil Film Producers Council will have a negative impact on the cordial relations that the council has with the government and the ruling party…

Well known director and film producer Cheran, along with a considerable number of producers, is on a protest, demanding the resignation of actor Vishal as President of the Tamil Film Producers Council.

The producers have taken exception to the fact that the actor, producer Vishal, who is also the Secretary of the Nadigar Sangam, has decided to contest the RK Nagar by-polls as an independent.

Talking to mediapersons before staging a sit-in protest at the office of the Tamil Film Producers Council, Cheran said that Vishal must resign from the position of the President of the Producers’ Council, if he wishes to contest the Assembly election.

“We are a body that that needs the support of the government. Vishal’s decision to contest elections will have an impact on the TFPC’s relationship with the ruling party. Several perks and benefits that the TFPC will get with the government’s support will be affected,” Cheran said, even as a considerable number of producers backed his call to stage a protest, demanding Vishal’s resignation.

The actor-director-producer said he would continue the protest either until Vishal withdrew his candidature for the polls or stepped down as the President of the Producers’ Council.
