Vishal hits back at Cheran!

Actor Vishal has categorically stated that he will not resign as the President of the Tamil Film Producers Council

Actor Vishal, who has filed his nomination for the Radha Krishanan by-polls that are to be held on December 21, has lashed out at director and producer Cheran who has been demanding his resignation as Tamil Film Producers’ Council President.

In a statement, the actor, said, “I have great respect for director Cheran. However, some of his recent criticisms, which have been indecent, only make me pity him. There is no law that prohibits a person holding office in an organisation from contesting elections. This is my personal choice and decision. It is impossible to buy Cheran’s argument. I find his argument that the government will act with vengeance against the Producers’ Council just because I am contesting these elections as something that is against democracy. Cheran’s arguments insult the present and the previous governments apart from the former office bearers as well.

“Rights are not to begged and got. I believe that they are to be obtained by demanding the. . I act in accordance with this belief. I am contesting in the RK Nagar elections to raise my voice on their behalf. I have arrived at this decision only after holding consultations with my friends and legal experts. I am ready to face any charge legally. However, if people choose to indulge in slander, to threaten and thereby achieve their objectives or if people indulge in slander for the sake of publicity, such actions of theirs cannot be permitted by the council. At least from now on, director Cheran must reform himself and stop seeking free publicity. He must look to have a healthy mentality. If Cheran continues to behave in the same fashion, legal action as per the rules of the council will be initiated against him,” Vishal said.
