Actress Juhi Chawla files plea in Delhi HC, seeking scientific study on adverse effects of 5G before its rollout in country
Juhi Chawla has filed a petition in the Delhi HC, asking for a scientific study on adverse effects of 5G technology before rolling it out
Citing the example of Belgium, which was the first country in the world to halt the rollout of 5G technology in April 2019 after understanding the hazards it posed to the health of all life forms, actress Juhi Chawla has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court, urging the judiciary to ask for a scientific study on adverse effects of radio frequency radiation emitted by gadgets using 5G technology before its official roll out in the country.
In her petition, which she filed along with two other individuals identified as Veeresh Malik and Teena Vachani through her advocate Deepak Khosla, Juhi Chawla pointed out that “These 5G plans threaten to provoke serious, irreversible effects on humans and (cause) permanent damage to all of the Earth’s ecosystems.”
The petitioners pointed out that “If the telecommunications industry’s plans for 5G come to fruition, no person, no animal, no bird, no insect and no plant on Earth will be able to avoid exposure, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to levels of RF radiation that are 10x to 100x times greater than what exists today, without any possibility of escape anywhere on the planet.”
Juhi Chawla prayed to the court that a scientific study by duly competent authorities on adverse effects of radio frequency radiation emitted by cellular telecommunications using 5G technology “on health, life, organ or limb of adult or child, or to flora and fauna” be conducted before clearing the 5G project for roll out.
The plea is scheduled to come up for hearing tomorrow (June 2).
