The Tamil Nadu police are on the look out for former IT Minister Manikandan, against whom a Tamil actress has lodged a police complaint.
Police sources say that the AIADMK Minister seems to have gone underground after a case of rape was filed against him by the cops on the strength of the actress’ complaint in which she had claimed that he had lured her into a relationship on the pretext of marriage.
The actress, in her complaint, had claimed that the former minister and she had lived as a couple for over five years. She claimed that the relationship started to sour after she insisted that he fulfill his promise of marrying her, after divorcing his present wife.
The actress claimed that the former minister then threatened her and her family members with dire consequences.
The actress had claimed that the Minister had met her on the pretext of investing in a business and that they took a mutual liking for each other and began living together as a couple. The actress claimed that she was forced to undergo three abortions by the Minister as he wanted to have a child only after their formal marriage.
The minister, however, had denied all these allegations and claimed that he did not know her.
It is under these circumstances that Minister Manikandan has now gone missing. Police suspect he has gone into hiding and are trying to locate the Minister using his mobile phone, which seems to have been switched off.
The cops suspect that the AIADMK minister is using the phone of one of his attenders and has therefore now begun to make a list of all those close to the minister.
A special team has also been dispatched to the Minister’s home town of Ramanathapuram to collect evidence against him.
