Kannada outfits raise banner of revolt against Rajini’s Darbar

Yet another Rajinikanth film finds itself in trouble in Karnataka just before its release.

Yes, some Kannada outfits in Karnataka have raised a banner of revolt against Darbar, Rajinikanth’s upcoming film that is to be released on January 9.

It may be recalled that these outfits had already staged protests demanding that films made in other languages other than Kannada not be released in Karnataka.

The outfits, which staged a protest in Bengaluru, have now demanded that Darbar should not be released in Karnataka as the film is being dubbed in Telugu and released in the state.

The protestors, who raised slogans against the filmmakers and Rajinikanth in particular, said that they would allow the film to release if it were dubbed in Kannada.

Darbar, which which also features Bollywood star Suniel Shetty, who incidentally hails from Karnataka, is scheduled to release in over 400 theatres in the state on January 9.

The protests against Darbar have put the distributors and theatre owners of the film in the state in a spot of bother.

This isn’t the first time that a Rajinikanth film is running into trouble in the state. Earlier too, Rajini’s Kaala faced opposition in the state. However, the film was screened despite the opposition with police protection.
