Rajini’s 2.0 to release in 10,000 screens on Jan 25!

2.0 has cost the firm a whopping 400 crores and is to be released in seven languages, including four foreign ones!!!

Superstar Rajinikanth’s eagerly awaited 2.0, which is being directed by Shankar, is to hit screens on January 25, next year.

This was disclosed by Raju Mahalingam, the Creative Head of Lyca, the firm that is producing the film.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a meet Lyca had arranged for its distributors and theatre owners to educate them on digital and 3D technology, Raju Mahalingam said,”2.0 has been made on a budget of Rs 400 crores. The film is to release in three Indian languages and four foreign languages. In India, the film will release in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Apart from that, the film will also release in Chinese, Japanese, Spanish and Korean.”

Already, Lyca is planning to release the film in at least 9,000 to 10,000 screens in India alone. That, by itself, will be a big achievement.

Having made a film in 3D from start to finish, Lyca has now realised that India does not have an adequate number of theatres that have the required technology to screen a world class 3D film. Therefore, the firm is now in the process of encouraging its theatre owners and distributors to upgrade their facilities to enable them to screen 3D films.

It is in this regard that the firm had organised a digital meet today in Chennai.

“We have organised this special session for theatre owners as audiences will be able to enjoy the 3D effect of the film only if theatres have the appropriate 3D facility. In India, there are only 1500 3D theatres while half of all theatres in China are 3D ready. Therefore, we want to help theatre owners upgrade their facilities.”

The producer also said that they were planning to launch the film’s audio in a grand manner by the end of October.
