Fatima Sana Shaikh, who played Geeta Phogat in Dangal, will reprise Aditi Balan’s character in the Hindi remake of Aruvi.
Fatima Sana Shaikh, who played Geeta Phogat in the Aamir Khan starrer Dangal, will reprise Aditi Balan’s character in the Hindi remake of Aruvi.
The Tamil film, which was directed by Arun Prabhu Purushothaman, was a black feminist comedy that released in 2017.
The Hindi version of the film, which is to be produced by Applause Entertainment in association with Faith Films, is to be directed by E Niwas, well known for making the Manoj Bajpayee-starrer Shool.
Applause Entertainment CEO Sameer Nair is believed to have said, “Equally funny and ferocious, Aruvi is a provocative, feminist social satire that stunned us when we first saw it. We were drawn in by its unconventional narrative, deftly balancing its black comedy leanings, with the beats of a tautly executed thriller.”
Director Niwas says it is an honour to direct the Hindi version of the film. “Aruvi is not just a story of a hero. It’s a triumph over the labyrinths of life. It’s totally euphoric and a privilege to explore one of the most beautiful cinematic characters I have come across. Fatima is a befitting choice.”
