Cops recover 31 sovereigns of gold stolen from Actress Jayabharathi!
Veteran Actress Jayabharathi, who has acted in a number of Malayalam and Tamil films including the Rajinikanth-starrer Muthu,is all praise for the Tamil Nadu police, who she says acted swiftly on a complaint that she filed and thereby helped her recover stolen jewellery.
Yes, the veteran Malayalam actress, who has acted in over 350 films, recently lodged a complaint at the Nungambakkam police station in Chennai alleging that over 31 sovereigns of gold had been stolen at her residence in Subbarao Avenue in Nungambakkam.
The actress, who resides at another property which she owns in Chennai, told the cops that nobody resided at the Nungambakkam residence and that only a watchman was there to take care of it.
She informed the cops that she realised that her jewellery had been stolen when she went to the Nungambakkam residence to pick up the jewels to wear them to a wedding.
Registering a case on her complaint, the police began investigations. They soon found that the watchman, Hark Bahadur, in connivance with her driver, Ibrahim, had stolen the jewels weighing 31 sovereigns.
The two had mortgaged it in a pawn shop in Aminjikarai. The jewels were recovered and handed over to the actress. Both suspects have been arrested.
