No new Tamil films to release from March 1

The TFPC claimed that as the Digital Service Providers had not heeded their repeated pleas to reduce prices

The Tamil Film Producers Council has announced that no new films will release in Tamil Nadu from March 1, 2018.

In a statement issued to the media, the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) said that Digital Service Providers had been charging producers exhorbitant prices for their services for many years now.

The TFPC claimed that as the Digital Service Providers had not heeded their repeated pleas to reduce prices and as they had turned a deaf ear to all their requests, made both through letters and in person, the producer councils of the south Indian film industries had decided not to release any films in any of the theatres until their just demands were met.

The TFPC said that a meeting of its members was held on February 1 in this regard. In this meeting, it was decided that the Tamil Film Producers Council would extend support to the strike call given by the Producer Councils of the other states. Moreover, an alternative to Digital Service Providers was also discussed at that meeting.
