Vaikkom Vijayalakshmi to wed Anoop on October 22

Well known singer Vaikkom Vijayalakshmi is to wed mimcry artiste Anoop on October 22.

The date of the wedding was decided after the couple got engaged at a simple function that was held at the bride’s home yesterday.

Vijayalakshmi, who has difficulty in seeing, has a huge fan following, thanks to her mellifluous voice.

The singer, after making her presence felt in Malayalam, shot to fame in Tamil with the D Imman number’Soppana Sundari naan thaane..’, which went on to become a chart buster.

It may be recalled that Vijayalakshmi had called off her previous engagement to a person identified as Santosh. Santosh was a Malayali who had settled in Bahrain. The two had parted ways after they had a difference of opinion. Vijayalakshmi claimed that she had called off her marriage to Santosh as he had laid down a condition that she would have to give up her career in music after their wedding.

The singer, who is considered an expert veena player, also has a film being made on her life. Interestingly, the person playing her character in the film happens to be Hanan Hamid, the girl who sold fish to support her studies.
