Actor Rajinikanth has expressed grief on the demise of one of Tamil Nadu’s greatest leaders Thiru M Karunanidhi.

The actor, who took to Twitter to express his grief, said, “Ennudaiya Kalaignar maraindha indha naal, en vazhnaalil naan marakka mudiyaadha oar karuppu naal. Avaradhu aanma Shanthi adaiyattum. (This day when my Kalaignar has passed is a black day I cannot forget in my lifetime).”

Several other stars too expressed their grief and condolences on the sad demise of the great leader.

Actor Madhavan was one such person. He said, “Saddened hearing the demise of one of this Nations Most dynamic leader and writer. May his soul Rest In Peace. Condolences to the entire party,family and supporters.”

Actresses Priya Bhavani Shankar, Nikki Galrani, Parvatii and Trisha too expressed their condolences.

Trisha said, “Another era comes to an end #RIPKalaignar.”

Nikki Galrani said, “End of another Era !!! My heartfull condolences to his family,admirers & followers. We will forever remember him for his years & years of public service towards our state.”

Actress Parvatii said, “Rest in Peace Kalaignar Karunanidhi – a Leader by all means. Your contributions to the welfare of Tamil language and Tamilnadu will speak across generations. The SUN will shine in our hearts always.”

Priya Bhavani Shankar tweeted, “Sad To Hear About The Demise Of A Great Leader Who Was In Politics From A Young Age & Risen As A Great Leader . Thanks For Inspiring Many Of Us #Karunanidhi Ayya.”

Actress Hansika said, “With profound grief I have learnt about the loss of our beloved Kalaignar Dr M Karunanidhi, one of the best leaders the country has ever witnessed. I hope God gives courage and hope to the family member and fellow Tamilians to cope with this huge loss #RIPKalaignar.”

Music director Anirudh Ravichander, who is also related to Rajinikanth, said, “End of a legendary era. Heartfelt condolences.”

Actor and music director G V Prakash said, “An era of politics , an era of leadership an era of writing … #Kalaignar #karunanidhi #ripkalaignar #ripkarunanithi”

Music director Sean Roldan too took to Twitter to register his thoughts on the great loss.

He tweeted, “Scholar, orator, writer, administrator, revolutionary and a great leader has left us today. This is an irreplaceable loss for TN. An extraordinary man who will leave his mark forever on Indian politics and arts. #RIPKalaignar”
